A Little About Me:

Hi! Thanks for checking out my website. I hope you like my style of images and have fun looking at all the pictures. Below is a little bit about me.

I grew up in Michigan with two loving parents, one younger sister and an older brother. As a kid, I was always good at artsy things. I drew race cars for all my classmates in first grade. A few years latter I was into making beads, necklaces, and friendship braclets. During the fifth grade, my cousin came over from Korea and I got really interested in origami and made hundreds of little paper cranes over several years. In middle school my attention drifted to pastels and colored pencils. During high school I got really good at origami, spending hours on rather complicated models. When I went to college I had a burning desire to get a fancy camera, so after a few months of saving I got my first real camera and started shooting. Soon afterwards, I got a job at my college's newspaper "The Western Herald." I got a whopping $10 for every image I got published. Regardless of the pay, I loved the job and even got the "Photographer of the Year Award." Some people might scoff at me mentioning such an obscure award, but it really meant a lot to me.

I  somehow managed to graduate with an Engineering degree and worked for Corporate America for a few years. However, the tasks were not that creative and I returned to my love of photography as a full time occupation. With my photojournalism background, I really enjoy shooting just about everything. I have come to specialize in weddings though which compose 90% of my assignments. I round out my work with some people oriented commercial photography, sports, and event type work.

I go about taking pictures in an interactive way that expresses the romance and excitement of the day. It's always my goal to get to know all the names of the bridal party and have them comfortable with me as a person. It is always nice to have people call me by my name rather than "Hey Photographer....."

A Wedding Philosophy

You’ve spent months planning your wedding so that everyone can enjoy a relaxing joyous day full of memories.  I strive to make sure all of your memories are captured in a  peaceful atmosphere by communicating with you beforehand and being friendly and patient during the day of the wedding. My wedding philosophy is to fit in like another one of your guests so I can capture everyone being themselves and enjoying another great day.

Communication between the engaged couple and photographer is essential for good photography before the wedding day.  I meet with each of my clients to understand their needs and to explain what I need to make sure their photography goes smoothly. During this time we go over my portfolio and talk about what kind of photography you like.  This meeting allows us to get to know one another under peaceful conditions and allows me to put a personality with the face, ensuring I capture your emotions and energy during the wedding day. This communication continues during the bridal and/or engagement session.  My goal is to have you completely comfortable with my photography style by your wedding day.

The best wedding photographers are those that are friendly and can feel comfortable amongst a group of strangers.  This is something I excel at. I’ll know everyone’s name in your bridal party in less than an hour. I’ll sit down and enjoy a meal with some of your other guests. I’ve even been known to break out the dancing shoes.  But don’t worry I always make enough time to get tons of pictures taken.  If people are calling me by my name instead of “Mr. Photographer” I know I’ve broken the ice and your pictures will show it.

Wedding photography is technically challenging, but it is also emotionally challenging.  I’ll try my best to cover all bases while I’m at your wedding.
